Navin Deshpande, M.D., FAAP

Navin DeshpandeDr. Deshpande was a practicing Pediatrician in India before he moved to this country in 1994. After completing a 2nd residency in Pediatrics at the prestigious Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit he received the Sanford N Cohen award for the best outgoing resident. Thereafter he continued there as Chief Resident in Pediatrics for an additional year where he taught pediatric residents extensively.

During all his training here and abroad he has had a lot of experience in dealing with critically ill children as well as treating children with a wide variety of illnesses. He has also participated in research studies.

Dr. Deshpande has been a Pediatrician since 1986, and has been working at Heartland Pediatric Associates in Avon Park since June 1997. He is Board Certified in Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He took over the practice in Jan 2009 and continues to provide quality care to his patients and some patient’s children too. His areas of special interest are Asthma, allergies and ADHD.

Dr. Deshpande resides in Sebring with his wife of 28 years. His older son has started a residency in Internal Medicine in New York. The younger one is studying to become a Doctor too.

Dr. Deshpande received the 2011 Best Doctor Award in Highlands County during the People's Choice Awards conducted by Highlands Today. He received Runners up in the same category in 2012.

 
Stephanie Rivera is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who received her BSN degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Thereafter she completed her MSN degree at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.

Her nursing background and experience include Pediatric Mental and Behavioral Health at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System, as well as Pediatric Emergency Care at Wolfson's Children Emergency Room in Jacksonville, Florida.

She absolutely loves working with children of all ages and is excited to be serving the children and families of Highlands County at Heartland Pediatrics.

She joined our practice in May 2013.
 
Richard Olton is a Board Certified Physician Assistant. By the time he obtained his High School Diploma, he also got his first college degree.
 
Shortly thereafter, he was accepted into the Physician Assistant Program at Miami Dade college at the age of 19. During this rigorous program, he was able to obtain knowledge in all fields of medicine including Pediatrics.

He has treated all varieties of patients from newborns to the elderly in his clinical year of the Physician Assistant program. Eventually he became one of the youngest graduating Physician Assistants in the nation at the age of 21.

We are proud to have him join our practice. He joined us in April 2013.
