Navin Deshpande, M.D., FAAP

Navin DeshpandeDr. Deshpande was a practicing Pediatrician in India before he moved to this country in 1994. After completing a 2nd residency in Pediatrics at the prestigious Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit he received the Sanford N Cohen award for the best outgoing resident. Thereafter he continued there as Chief Resident in Pediatrics for an additional year where he taught pediatric residents extensively.

During all his training here and abroad he has had a lot of experience in dealing with critically ill children as well as treating children with a wide variety of illnesses. He has also participated in research studies.

Dr. Deshpande has been a Pediatrician since 1986, and has been working at Heartland Pediatric Associates in Avon Park since June 1997. He is Board Certified in Pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He took over the practice in Jan 2009 and continues to provide quality care to his patients and some patient’s children too. His areas of special interest are Asthma, allergies and ADHD.

Dr. Deshpande resides in Sebring with his wife of 25 years. Both his sons are studying in college.

 
Dr. Parmjit Gill

Dr. Parmjit GillDr. Parmjit Gill graduated from the Pediatric Residency program at DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids Michigan. She completed one year of an Endocrinology and Diabetes fellowship at the Women’s & Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. She then decided to do General Pediatrics and moved to Sebring, Florida in August 2006 and joined Heartland Pediatrics in Avon Park. Her duties include not only outpatient Pediatric services but also nursery and inpatient management of sick children as well. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics, is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and has published two articles in journals. Her special interests include Endocrinology and Diabetes. She is married and lives with her husband in Sebring.   
 
Karen Mathis

Navin DeshpandeKaren Mathis joined Heartland Pediatrics of Avon Park in July, 2009 and provides quality outpatient care to our patients. She received her master's degree as a physician assistant from University of Oklahoma in 2003. She has worked at the University of Oklahoma Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma as well as the Shand's Children's Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. During her work at these hospitals she provided inpatient and outpatient care to children facing life threatening illnesses and participated in Children's Oncology Group research studies.

Karen is a native of Winter Haven, Florida and a United States Air Force veteran. She is married and has two young daughters.
